Soap Making Fragrance Oils-Elegant and Inexpensive

Scented soaps that use fragrance oils can vary a great deal depending on the types of soap making fragrance oils that are being used. Of course it is extremely important for you to become very familiar with the new soap fragrances before you begin using them as ingredients in your upcoming soap-making efforts.

Always be sure that you are testing the fragrance oils to discover their unique aromas and characteristics before using them. Those who are creating soaps with the technique of cold-processing should pay particular attention to the types of soap fragrances and oils that they are incorporating into their products. Some fragrance oils can create difficulties during the soap-making process.

Fragrance oils are created by using a combination of chemical compounds (known as chemotypes) and some of the extracts from natural herbal and plant sources. These chemotype aromatics are able to produce a fragrant scent that is nearly identical to the natural scent of the desired source such as a plant, herb, tree or fruit.

Soap making fragrance oils are able to produce a variety of lovely aromas. These types of soap making fragrance oils may contain other essential oils, but some of the formulas are completely synthetic in origin.

Even when these scents include as much as 70-80% essential oils they are required to be labeled as artificial aromatics. However this does not diminish the true beauty and healing potential of these fragrantly scented oils.

The reason that fragrance oils have become so popular is that they are less expensive than the essential oils, yet the aroma will convince you that the smell is identical. For instance you can use a rose scented fragrance oil instead of the (far more expensive) essential rose oil and create a batch of soap with the long-lasting, delicate scent of fresh roses.

Difficult scents to extract are also an area where fragrance oils are able to excel. Such aromas could include those of brown sugar, cinnamon blends, blackberry, cucumber or chocolate. However these same scents are able to be produced using aromatic chemotypes and are then made available as scented fragrance oils.

In some instances you will be able to instantly detect the fragrant aroma of fresh fruits, berries or spices in the soap. However you can find some soap making fragrance oils that have been specifically designed to deliver a completely different and unique scent that is not easily decoded by our noses.

Many soap makers prefer to use these designer fragrances as ingredients in their products. With essential oils you are limited in the scope of aromas that are available but if you use fragrance oils you can discover thousands of new possibilities.

There are certain healing properties associated with both essential oils and soap making fragrance oils.

Carnation fragrance oil will stimulate the senses and may bring blessings and protection to the user.

Coconut fragrance oil stimulates feelings of love, courage and inner tranquility.

Freesia is fragrance oil that is airy and light. Using this type of soap making fragrance oil will bring new energy and remove stagnant thoughts and feelings.

Honeysuckle is yet another of the fragrance oils. This aroma is said to heighten one’s intuitive and psychic powers.

Fragrance oil containing the aroma of violets offers healing, comfort and calmness.

Today you can find a number of scented oils that are available for use in candles, soaps and other products. You can choose essential oil ingredients which are going to be more expensive and may even be a little more difficult to locate. Or you can use the designer quality, fragrance oils that you can purchase more readily, and at less cost. With fragrance oils you will be able to produce soaps that more strongly retain the aroma of the scent, but whether you use essential oils or soap making fragrance oils is a decision that you must make.
